Sometimes you just have to spend the money. The day the Kenwood arrived, with my Autocom kit, it was installed under my seat together with the bike power kit, and there it's stayed ever since - I've never needed to touch it. My mates have endless trouble with their cheaper PMRs, but this fella just keeps on working. Reliability is worth paying for, in my opinion.

i am a pro motorcycle instructor, i have tried the cheapo option radios and the honest truth is - you get what you pay for, kenwood radios are simply the best, they are robust enough to cope with pro use in all weathers and they have the best range in their class.
if you decide to upgrade to the licensed units as i did then all your kenwood/autocom cables will fit as well
